code P0340 96 5.0L

I recently changed my camshaft position sensor because of code p0340, check engine light went out 10 minutes later code p0340 back on along wih check enginr light. Can someone tell me do I have to re-align sensor shaft when replacing cps. any advice would be so helpful.

There should only be two ways you can put it on (maybe only one if it's keyed, which it looks to be, but if keyed and you had it on wrong then it just wouldn't tighten down seated all the way on), either correctly oriented, or 180 degrees rotated the wrong way.

Generally you'd know it's right if the electrical connector socket is pointed the same direction. There's no real alignment besides that, the two bolts should hold it in the right position, unless it's the wrong part #.

Did you use a code reader or pull the battery for 10 minutes to clear the codes? If not, and you're sure it's not on 180' backwards, try that.
