2002 Transmission woes

Newb to the forum here. Having issues with the gf's explorer and need some assistance. Its a 2002, 2wd, 4.0 automatic. Its had the engine replaced within 10K miles (reman), and transmission within 30k miles (reman also).

It won't move forward or backwards. She drove home from work fine, parked it for half hour, got back in to leave and nothing. It did this once a year ago, she got it towed to a shop, and then it worked just fine (like always!).

It will shift to neutral and park, but nothing else.. I've replaced the range sensor, checked fluid level (it was fine), both fuses (26 and 29 I think, can't remember which ones exactly) were fine. I use torque pro app with ford PID's downloaded and FordSys Free. No codes present, when I try to read the TCM with FordSys I get "TCM lost connect or not support! Please sure IGN ON" While its running.

What to check next? Thanks.

AFAIK an inoperable pressure relief valve can cause that, but I don't know if it'd cause it cold.

Since I know nothing more, I'd assess the value of the vehicle to decide if it's worth rebuilding or putting a reman transmission in.

If the transmission was a Ford rebuild it might have a 3 year 36K mi warranty.
