When driving, the RPM gauge leaps and the vehicle lurches forward. I assume something in the automatic shifting is messed up. Additionally, when starting the vehicle and putting it in reverse, it makes a "clunk" noise and then lurches the vehicle back. It drives forward and backwards fine, but those are my issues. Any thoughts? Thanks
I'm not a transmission expert. To some extent a lurching can happen if something as simple as a vac line is off a valve on a transmission body but not so much the reverse issue.
I'd take it to a shop for diagnosis, or if you have forscan app and an OBDII dongle to connect to an android, IOS device, or PC, see if any diagnostic codes are set.
Thank you for the advice J C. That helps me understand a little more where the problem may be. To answer your question, I drive a: 2004, Ford Explorer, Eddie Bauer, 4.6L, V-8, 4x4. Does that help? Thanks, Brown.
Sorry it doesn't help. Transmissions I know the least about.
