steering colum on a 91explorer

it looks like someone tried to pop the locking cylinder out of my 1st gen eddie. everything is ok except the pot metal that holds the key in switch is broke out. how difficult is it to change the steering column?

I may be misunderstanding but if it's the part that holds the key in, it's just a separate bezel piece or if you mean the lock cylinder assembly itself, that also comes out separately though a new one would need re-keyed.
