Does anyone know if sunroofs designed for the 3rd generation Explorers would work in a 2nd generation Explorer? Reason why I ask is because I have the opportunity of getting a sunroof made for a 3rd gen at a great price. I am not sure if it will work on other Explorer models however. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Oh sure! Buy a sunroof instead of my head unit! So that’s how you are

Just kidding Rob, but I couldn't pass it up....to stay on topic I have no clue if it will work.

I'd get the Alpine head unit and XM tuner instead.

Sunroof sounds like a pretty big project. Would you do it yourself?

You know what, screw it anyways
Even buying the sunroof myself, there'd still be other expenses that would add up. And I'd rather just save up a little more cash and just get everything brand new and warrantied by the dealership.

Oh well, it was just another crazy idea.

Well not that you are going to do it but, to answer you original question, no it won't fit. The new roofs are bigger than the second gen. roofs. I actually wish mine was bigger (damnit...yes I know that sounds bad). Rob if you get a moonroof go with something like Matt (BM) has.

Ryan, you know they offer prescription mediication such as Viagra to increase your size. No longer do you have to be stuck with a small...yeah!

So what Matt got is actually better then the Ford factory one anyway?

Ok I'mnot going to get into the size thing 'cause well...yeah. I'll let you think whatever you want about its size.

Well I didn't say that Matt's is better than factory, I just said the 3rd gens are bigger. It was more of a suggestion to go with what Matt has. I like the switch for his because it still leaves him with the garage door opener spot in the overhead console whereas on mine the switch for the roof is in the spot. But I've gotten used to not having that space. I think you'll be happy with either way. Get whatever is the best priced. The only thing that creeps me out is the thought of getting a huge hole cut in the roof.

Cutting freaks me out more than cost.
