L-shaped by pass hose from top center front of the engine attaches to a metal tube along the passenger side of the engine. It then connects to a pass through sensor/valve. Mine had the plastic hose nipple broke off and needs replaced. It looks like it has a wire rather than vacuum but I will be digging into it tonight. Truck does have electronic temperature control (AC/Heat).

What is that sensor/valve called so I can order a new one.

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words; a shot of the broken valve\barb would really help.
Guessing & suspect the HeaterControlValve; a plastic VacControlled BallValve, notorious failure item.
I've replaced the plastic HeaterControlValve that cracked+leaked on my 2001,
with an older style metal PlugValve; both operate VacToCose, both pictured below.
Click here for more info.

I'm assuming "Pass Through" means "One Way";
if you have the multi-port version of the HeaterControlValve,
all you can do is replace it with a new plastic part.
Hope this helps.
