I have 98 explorer sport 6 cylinder single overhead cam, today I replaces the spark plug wires because I had an engine code that said the 6th cylinder was misfiring. I read a lot of threads and all suggested that I start with spark plug wires. I changed 3 of them along with the idle air control valve (I had a hard idle) & now there is this horrible knocking sound. Like metal on metal, what the hell did I do?

You sure you hooked all the wires back up correctly? Any new codes show up? More info is needed I don't see how you could've F'ed anything up on such simple tasks.

The original wires on the driver side were crossed, the middle wire went to the back and the back went to the middle. When I put the new ones on I put the middle to the middle and the back to the back. I also only replaced one side with new wires before I fired up the engine. I put the old plug wires back and it still makes that noise.
