We're going to have dedicated threads for each major specific sub size as to prevent multiple threads. So, discuss in your opinion the best 15" sub and of course, why you think that way!

i think the 15 is pointless, too much draging

I agree. 15" subs are way too much. But there are people out there that would rather have it....Rocket's old setup had a single 15" sub. With the custom box he built for it in his truck, it looked really really nice as well. But that's as good as history now...

Hey those stock speakers can take some punishment. I'm surprised I never killed the ones in my '95. They would never die!!

The stockers are surprisingly not bad in the Explorers.

I always though the same...until I swapped in aftermarket speakers. Now I can never go back. Every once in awhile when I step into my dad's Explorer and hear the music on, whether its CD or radio, it sounds like crap.

:werd: I couldn't get my aftermarkets put in my new X fast enough. I was so used to listening to them then had the OEMs put back in my old X when I traded it in. It was the worst. And then I had to drive around with the OEMs in my new X for a month before I got my aftermarkets put back in. Anyway I can tell this sticky has gotten way
so, let me help fix that.

I too think 15's are bad. They just seem too huge IMO and they would not sound as good as a 10" or 12".

Humm........ well since I have a set of 15's I will have to just say.....................

I agree
I got them back when my set of 12's were stolen out of my....dont laugh.....Sable wagon. I thought that bigger was better, I have had them in several vehicles since and the only car that they really sounded good in was my Escort wagon (It would shake the crap out of you) They are about 9 years old and still working pretty good, I did get a new amp when I put them in my x a few months ago.

I wouldnt do it again but as long as they still work I guess I will keep on using them.

Oh yeah I forgot, they are Kickers.

I think im gonna buy 15's but im still deciding between twelves... the 15's I heard seemed better/or louder than the 12's but i dunno once u get to a certain point of loud you cant really tell anymore... but im also going to replace the stock speakers w/ infinit 5x7's and have a 1200 watt amp power those and a seperate amp for the subs

I had 12's before the 15's and I would not go with 15's again, I also had a single 10 in a Focus that was great! It's really hard to find the best because that all sound different and depending what they are installed in they also sound different.

Good luck with whatever you go with.

if ur getting 15's, dont get 2. #1 way too expensive, unless u get really crappy ones which arent responsive enough.. *cough* dwtc's kickers
but say u hooked urself up with a solobaric - X 15". THAT will solve all of your problems. Deepest 15" i've ever heard. (made me sick.) check it out on sounddomain.com

Some songs sound great while others sound like crap.

I just might have to check out the solobaric

PS: These did kick ass at one time, I had them in my 96 Escort wagon and they really did the job, for some reason they just dont hit like they used too.....maby they are just old like me
