Well, I went through our Explorer's papers...



...at 93,000 miles, the spark plugs are from the factory. I'm surprised they still work.



Anyway, I'm going to change them out tomorrow. It looks like some will be a pain to get to, but I'm sure I can figure it out.



One concern, though: I have heard that on some Mustangs, the spark plugs will fuse to the head and crack when you try to loosen them, and then you have to pull the head and re-machine it to get them out. Any history of that happening on the 4.0's?

I have not heard about that. The bigger issue is actually getting to the spark plugs, but I didn't find it to be too bad.

Once you do them once or twice it gets easier, but I think it will be pretty cut and dry. I wouldn't worry about them cracking just use a little caution when breaking them loose. What kind of plugs are you going to put back in?
