did the fluid on my transfer case today, man that stuff smells horrible.. the old fluid was black, what a pain it was to get the new fluid in to it... i definitely got 1.5+ quarts in there, i spilled a little bit but it was tough even with a funnel with a long tube on it... i used valvoline mercon V

i should be good though with the amount of new fluid i got in there correct? when i drained the old stuff it only looked like a quart, quart and a half came out

You just fill it up until it flows out the fill hole. I did mine a couple weeks ago, and it was super easy but that is because I have the pump that fits on the amsoil bottles.

I would say gear oil smells worse than ATF. If you get gear oil on your hands they smell like ass forever, haha.

yea, i should of bought a hand pump...

should i go buy more fluid since it didn't come out of the fill hole? or will it be fine?

i just checked the good old manual and it calls for 1.3 quarts, i definitely got in 1 quart and probably a little bit more...

does the fluid need to be coming out the fill hole or should i be alright?

It is hard to say. You could pull the plug, stick your finger in there and feel around. There is a shelf of sorts in there so you will have to stick in a ways before you will be able to feel the real fluid level.

More than likely you are fine, but the best way to know for sure is to fill until it starts flowing back out the fill hole.

i topped it off on saturady, took almost 1/2 a quart.. using my handy siphon pump

this thing works wonders.. wish i had it the first time i was filling t-case, and my rear differential, instead of using a funnel ..
